Guide

What it does

The AI Image Upscaler enhances image resolution using super-resolution models trained to recover detail from low-resolution sources. Upload PNG, JPEG, or WebP images and choose 2x or 4x upscaling to produce sharper output for web, print, or asset pipelines. Unlike most PixelMetrik tools, processing runs on our server — your images are uploaded for enhancement and returned as downloadable results.

When to use it

  • Enlarging photos or textures for retina displays without visible pixelation
  • Preparing game sprites, icons, or UI assets from small source files
  • Improving low-resolution stock images before use in marketing materials
  • Upscaling screenshots or scans where the original capture was limited
  • Batch-processing multiple images when you need consistent scale factors

How to use it

  1. Upload one or more images via drag-and-drop or the file picker.
  2. Choose a 2x or 4x upscale factor based on your target output dimensions.
  3. Wait for server-side processing — progress indicators show status per image.
  4. Preview the upscaled result alongside the original when comparison is available.
  5. Download the enhanced image or images when processing completes.

Tips

  • Start with 2x when unsure — it is faster and often sufficient for web use; use 4x for print or large displays.
  • PNG and WebP preserve transparency; JPEG is best for photographic content without alpha channels.
  • Extremely small source images (under 32px) may produce soft results because the model has little detail to infer.
  • Check file size limits before uploading large batches — splitting into smaller groups avoids timeouts.

FAQ

Is upscaling free?

Yes, with generous limits for guest and registered users. Check the tool page for current quotas.

Are my images stored permanently?

Images are processed on our servers and retained only as long as needed for delivery and operational backups.

Do I need an account?

Guest uploads are supported. Sign in for additional features and higher limits where available.

Why is this tool server-side?

Super-resolution models require GPU compute that exceeds what browsers can run efficiently. Uploading lets us deliver high-quality results quickly.
